Astair – Neo‑classic Brasserie in the Heart of Passage des Panoramas

Summary

A chic, contemporary brasserie nestled within one of Paris’s most iconic covered arcades.

Description

Opened in late 2018 in the historic Passage des Panoramas (est. 1799), Astair is the brainchild of restaurateurs Jean Valfort, Charles Drouhaut and Jean‑François Monfort, known for Canard & Champagne. Decor by Tristan Auer brings an updated Art Deco charm — brass-toned banquettes, a central bar, plush seating, and a glass canopy evoking an upscale yet relaxed vibe.

Helmed by 3‑Michelin-starred chef Gilles Goujon, the menu balances time-honored classics like escargots, foie gras, frog legs, squid ink linguine, and cocotte egg with wild mushrooms, with creative dishes such as cod with tchoutchouka and quail with figs and grapes. Don’t miss their signature desserts: tarte Tatin and rum baba.

Astair caters to both local Parisians and international guests — young food enthusiasts, families, and tourists alike. The vibe is warm and polished, fronted by bilingual staff. The space is ideal for business lunches, romantic dinners, or casual gatherings. It accommodates groups up to 13 (booking advised), and occasionally hosts live music .

Additional highlights: vegan-friendly options, wheelchair access, and a terrace in the covered passage. A delightful historic twist: Passage des Panoramas was among the first Parisian arcades lit by gas in 1816.
